Meaningful Measures
Many organizations get caught up in measuring what is easiest to measure instead of what is most meaningful to measure. The two do not have to be mutually exclusive but usually what is easiest to measure does not add value to the organization. Through this one- or two-day workshop, the organization specifies a set of measures that directly link to business objectives of the organization, supporting important business decisions.
This workshop follows a simple flow of ensuring business objectives are specified in a way to ensure measurement supports them. After specifying the business objectives, the workshop focuses on understanding whether the organization is progressing towards achieving the objectives. We then specify the actual measures themselves.
But this is only half the work. The workshop next ensures that the procedures to gather, analyze, report, and store the measures are specified. The workshop winds up with time spent on defining how the measures will be implemented within the organization. After all, a good idea like measurement still requires a good implementation.
